You’re Invited: A Conversation About Online Privacy
Introducing Polis and a conversation you can join around online privacy
I’ll use this post to present you with two things: 1) Polis, a pretty new online platform for encouraging and analyzing conversations on different topics and 2) A conversation you can join and contribute to on the topic of privacy online.
More on those two topics then.
1) Polis may be a different kind of “poll” than you’ve seen before. In fact, it’s much more than a poll, really. Per their site, Polis is “a real-time system for gathering, analyzing and understanding what large groups of people think in their own words, enabled by advanced statistics and machine learning.” Polis allows you to participate in a poll, but also to help that poll evolve by adding your own thoughts to take study in directions it may not have initially been seeded with. You can also indicate what elements of the conversation you consider most important. Once enough people have participated, you can also see a visualization of how people’s responses are evolving. Pretty cool, huh?
2) Via Polis, I’m inviting you to participate in a conversation about people’s concerns around privacy online. The resulting information will assist me in my efforts to continue learning about these privacy issues and how we as designers can address them. Of course, the more people who participate, the more valuable these findings will be. So, I’d love for you to join the conversation via the first link below.
